"I remember watching a program about discipline and violence against children.
A group of people had been brought together, including
Normie Rowe,
the former pop star, who was very vocal.

"At one point the discussion became very heated. Normie Rowe said something
like, it was ridiculous, of course it was necessary to smack children sometimes.
A good smack never did anyone any harm. I was struck by this as I remembered that one of
Normie Rowe's children had died from a drug overdose. 'Smack' came from there."
